Friuli Venezia Giulia wine and food tour Itinerary 3 – A range of flavors that awaken the senses
Through its food and wine tradition it is possible to discover the thousand facets of this region. Friuli Venezia Giulia’s dishes express the cooking tradition of far-off cultures. As a consequence, the main characteristic of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s cooking is its extreme variety: world famous cold cuts, fresh and aged cheeses, first courses in which new sensations are experienced and seafood.
In Friuli Venezia Giulia there are eight D.O.C. (Denomination of Controlled Origin) areas that produce 100 million bottles a year: worldwide famous white wines, full-bodied red wines and dessert wines. Wine tourists will be left breathless.
DAY 1: Treviso Airport/Udine (km 150 ca.)
Arrival at Treviso Airport. Meet & greet by our local staff. Transfer to Udine. Welcome drink with Ribolla Gialla. Relax in your comfortable room. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
DAY 2: Udine – San Daniele del Friuli – Udine (km 150 ca.)
Buffet breakfast. At 09:00 am meet your guide and start to explore the city of Udine. Lunch free. Proceede to San Daniele del Friuli and visit of a ham factory (including ham tasting). In the afternoon visit of the medieval town. Return to Udine and stop by a local wine cellar to taste the famous sweet wine named “Ramandolo”. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
DAY 3: Udine/Cividale del Friuli/Collio Goriziano/Udine (km 200 ca.)
Buffet breakfast and overnight in hotel. At 09:00 am meet your guide and excursion to Cividale del Friuli the ancient capital of Longobards (UNESCO Site). Lunch free. In the afternoon move to the Collio goriziano wine region and visit of wine cellar (wine tasting included). Dinner at Osteria-Gostilna Korsič with typical menu. Return to Udine and overnight in hotel.
DAY 4: Udine/Trieste/Carso/Udine (km 250 ca.)
Buffet breakfast and overnight in hotel. At 08:30 am meet your guide and excursion to Trieste the main city of the region. The visit begin with the enchantable Miramare Castle (entrance fee included). Lunch free. In the afternoon Trieste city sightseeing (partly walking) follow by a visit of the Carso wine cellar (wine tasting included). Farewell dinner at Lokanda Devetak with traditional food. Return to Udine and overnight in hotel.
DAY 5: Udine/Treviso airport (km 150 ca.)
Buffet breakfast. At 10:30 am meet your assistant and transfer to Treviso Airport for departure flight.
